Last Sonata
First-Person Shooter, Zombie Survival, Unreal Engine 5
INTRODUCTION
In Last Sonata, a zombie survival FPS inspired by modern AAA apocalyptic titles, the entire experience unfolds within one vast, interconnected map—large enough to split into multiple, story-linked chapters. You play as Sam, a retired military officer, partnered remotely with Iris, a female commander who provides overwatch and transport by helicopter. Guided by the final hint left by a mad scientist, Sam and Iris must locate the Five Elemental Keys—Earth, Metal, Wood, Water, and Fire—hidden throughout a residential village. Collect them to unlock the Guardian Gate, confront the pathogen at the city center, and strike at the virus’s root.
It won’t be easy: Iris guides from above while Sam battles on the ground—their collaboration, powered by the scientist’s last message, is where humanity’s revival begins.
MY ROLE
As the solo creator, I serve as programmer and designer, building the shooting mechanics, enemy behaviours, traversal, and game interface in UE5. I prototype and tune Blueprint systems, script encounters and multi-phase bosses, and shape level spaces to support combat flow. I also run performance passes (pooling, LOD/culling) and handle presentation, such as animation reactions, VFX/SFX timing, and UI polish, so the action stays readable and responsive.
PROJECT OUTCOMES
Advance first-person shooters with immersive, system-driven combat that rewards anticipation—clear attack cues, multi-phase boss design with cinematic transitions, and environmental storytelling that shapes tension and stakes.
Build a zombie survival FPS in UE5 featuring a tuned weapon–input pipeline, dynamic crosshairs, motion-warped traversal, horde AI with NavMesh/NavLinks and crowd queuing, door-breach interactions, ragdoll and dismemberment, and a polished UI—optimized with pooling and LOD for stable, seamless play.
